Right Here, Right Now: The Future of Immersive Events.

Fifteen+ years ago, I proposed an innovative concept to my clients in the drinks and hospitality industry: immersive events that would transport guests into another world using large digital screens.

The idea was to create unforgettable experiences where the environment could change in an instant - one moment, you could be on a sun-soaked beach, and the next, in the middle of a bustling city, or at the heart of a live concert.

Unfortunately, at the time the appetite for such experiences was there, but the technology and funds available weren’t sufficient to make it happen. However, whilst the vision might have been ahead of its time, the dream has never faded.

Fast forward to today, and the landscape of immersive experiences has dramatically evolved, driven by cutting-edge technology and a growing demand for more engaging and interactive entertainment. One of the most exciting developments in this space is the work being done by Cosm, a company that has taken immersive experiences to a whole new level.

The Cosm Experience: Redefining Immersive Entertainment

Cosm has redefined what it means to combine entertainment and technology, transforming events into fully immersive experiences that rival being there in person. At their two new venues, in Los Angeles and Dallas, they have created environments where live sports, entertainment, art, and music blend seamlessly into one.

Earlier this month in LA, they debuted the 2024-25 Premier League season with the Manchester United v. Fulham game, enveloping its audience in the action, feeling every moment as if they were at the stadium.

Cosm's domed and curved LED screens are engineered to immerse viewers in a 360-degree experience, making the distinction between the virtual and real world nearly indistinguishable.

“They boast a 9,600 square foot, fine pitch LED display that surrounds the audience within The Dome section of the venue. The seating here is reserved, with dedicated servers for food and beverages. Additionally, there’s The Hall, which offers open seating and a massive 150-foot digital display, although it’s not as immersive as The Dome”, guides Cass Anderson’s recent article for BroBible.

This is the kind of experience I had always envisioned, where the environment itself becomes part of the event, engaging all the senses and offering something far beyond traditional viewing or event participation. Cosm's ability to create these hyper-realistic, interactive environments is exactly what I had hoped for all those years ago, and seeing it come to life is incredibly exciting. It’s proof that immersive technology has finally caught up with the ambition to transform events in ways that were previously unimaginable.

Half the World Away? Bringing Cosm's Vision to the UK.

The potential to revolutionise the hospitality, entertainment, events industries and beyond, with these immersive, digital environments is immense; and Cosm has already stated it has a roll-out plan for more venues across the globe.

Imagine hosting an event where guests are not just attendees but active participants in a completely immersive world, whether it's walking through a virtual vineyard in Tuscany during a wine tasting, or standing on the sidelines of a World Cup final, feeling the energy of the crowd.

Or, perhaps the fever and anticipation before Noel and Liam finally take to the stage for their Summer world tour after a 15 year hiatus - finding yourself, both surrounded and absorbed, by the electrifying atmospheres of the Cardiff, Manchester, London, Edinburgh, or Dublin crowds.

Cosm has shown that the future of entertainment is not just about what you see, but about how you feel. We believe this technology will transform the way people experience events, environments and content - to be more engaging, more memorable, and more impactful.

And, while Cosm isn’t in the UK yet, at People One Fifty we are excited to work with our Creation Population®️ tech partners to see how far we can push the boundaries, right here, right now.
